Saints Win Cresco Meet

The St. Ansgar boys track team traveled to Cresco on Tuesday night to compete against Crestwood and North Fayette Valley. It was a good night for the Saints, finishing in first place with a team score of 203. A number of Saints chipped in to help with the win, but Cole Willert and Ethan Kirchgatter led the squad by finishing with 23 points and 22.50 points respectively. At the end of the night, the Saints finished with nine first place finishes.
Ethan Kirchgatter finished in first in the 200M dash with a time of 25.08 seconds while Skylar Blunt ran a time of 55.93 seconds in the 400M dash for first place. John Patterson was the champion in the 3200M run, running a time of 10:40.30 and Cole Willert finished in first place in the 400M hurdles with a time of 56.54 seconds.
In the field events, the Saints finished with two champions. Ben Boerjan had a jump of 5 feet, 8 inches for win the high jump and Theo Baldus threw the shot put 47 feet, 0.5 inches for first place. The Saints had three relay teams finish in first place in the relay runs. The 4x400M relay team of Ethan Kirchgatter, Ben Boerjan, Brody Bruce and Cole Willert ran a time of 3:47.08 for first place. In the 4x800M relay, the Saints team of Bryan Schmidt, Dylan Gooder, Mark Bless and Uziel Garcia finished in first with a time of 9.22.66. The Shuttle Hurdle relay team also finished in first place with their time of 1:03.59. The race was run by team members Collin Kramer, Brody Bruce, Jacob Hemann and Cole Willert.
The Saints boys team gets a one night break before their next meet on Thursday night in Forest City at the Waldorf University’s Beebe track. Then the Saints will travel again on Tuesday, April 18 for a meet in Charles City.
