Cedar Rapids, IA – At the 50th annual awards banquet for the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association (IHSBCA) St. Ansgar was awarded the True Pitch – District and State Field of the year. This is voted on by all baseball coaches in the state of Iowa and the IHSBCA members.

Every year one site in the entire state is chosen on appearance and playability.

“I am proud of our communities and all the volunteers that have put thousands of hours into this facility,” said head baseball coach Devin Schwiesow.  “Six years ago we had one of the last joined football and baseball facilities in the state that needed some updates and today we have the best.

“I would like to thank the St. Ansgar Board of Education that first allowed us to pursue this dream, the Facilities Committee that helped with organization, St. Ansgar Booster Club and all the Cycle Club Members, Falk Construction, Popp Excavating, Schulz Construction, Don Ask, Gary Robertson and Tom Pierce Construction, parents and players putting in volunteer work the last six years, and our coaching staff. This is truly an award that all of our communities can be very proud of. Thanks SAINTS for all your hard work, it paid off this weekend and will continue to pay off everytime our athletes step on the field. It is Great to be a Saint!”
