The snow storm wasn’t enough to keep the crowds away from the third annual “Belle of the Ball” event Saturday, as 114 little princesses attended the fundraiser for a night of fun and fantasy.

Fathers, grandfathers, uncles and brothers escorted their little princesses down the red carpet in the St. Ansgar middle school gym, where they got to enjoy cupcakes and dance the night a way, donned from head to toe in dresses and tiaras.

“Those little girls have so much fun,” said an event organizer Lori Cimmiyoti. “It was so cute!”

Also in attendance were the real princesses Belle (Kayla Follmuth), Elsa (Alexine Follmuth), Snow White (Mackenzie Follmuth) and Cinderella (Dillon Follmuth’s fiancé Sonja).

The Cimmiyotti Family hosts the event every year. Like many families in the area, Cimmiyotti said, theirs has been affected by cancer.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Relay For Life of the American Cancer Society, and is one of the two big events they put on each year. The other is Brat Ball during the annual Brat Daze celebration in Stacyville.

Hula-hooping was just one of the activities enjoyed. Submitted photo.

This year’s event raised around $3,500 for Relay for Life.

“It was great with all the people that donated their time,” Cimmiyoti said. “Without all of the help, we couldn’t have pulled it off.”
