Back-to-back sloppy plays cost the Saints a chance at victory Monday night, as the boys fell to Northwood-Kensett 3-1 on their home field.

The Vikings put up three runs in the third inning with help from a couple of errant throws that sailed over the heads of the first and third basemen, and were able to stymie the St. Ansgar batters long enough to hold on for the win.

Ryan Cole went 2 for 3 at the plate and scored the Saints’ only run, but the rest of the lineup wasn’t able to help the sophomore short-stop.

John May was the only other batter to register a hit.

Mark Williams started for the Saints, and allowed five hits over 5 1/3 innings with eight strikeouts.

Next, the team travels to Crestwood to take on the Cadets Tuesday.
