Don Kofoot was awarded a “Quilt of Valor” at the St. Ansgar Legion on Tuesday.
Founded in 2003, the Quilts of Valor organization awards hand-made quilts to thank veterans for their service, sacrifice and valor in serving our nation.
The mission of the Quilts of Valor Foundation is to “cover service members and veterans touched by war, with comforting and healing”. The organization has given out over 200,000 quilts since it began.
Kofoot served in the Army from 1966 to 1968, and has been active member of the St. Ansgar Legion, having served as its commander.
“This is a great organization,” said Bob Onken, Dept. of Iowa Vice Commander who presented Kofoot with the quilt. “For his service to his country, and to the American Legion, we want to [thank] Don.”
