Barbara T. Rose, of Marion, died Friday, May 10, 2019, at Tripoli Nursing & Rehab.

Barbara, daughter of Rudolph and Marie (Lehmann) Nitardy was born March 20, 1934 in Toeterville, Iowa. She was united in marriage with Marion Dean Rose at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Toeterville in 1956. The couple would later divorce. Barbara graduated from St. Ansgar High School in 1952 and University of Iowa College of Practical Nursing in 1954. She was employed at University of Iowa Hospital Pediatrics and Mercy Hospital Pediatrics and Geriatrics in Cedar Rapids, until retiring in 1999. Barbara was a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, was active in the Cedar Rapids Concert Chorale, and had a beautiful contralto voice. She also worked many part time jobs concerned with women’s self improvement. Barbara was a caring and loving person. She always enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, and taking a great interest in what they were doing. She cared for several of her siblings along the way. Barbara also enjoyed going up to the farm for peace and tranquility.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Mary (Eric) Kellogg of Phoenix, Arizona; son, David Rose of San Rafael, California; two grandsons, Matthew Kellogg and Danniel Rose; granddaughter, Kelsey Kellogg; two sisters, Carolyn (Bruce) Gerdts and Margaret (Gene) Buenger; brother, Joseph Nitardy; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Doris Rose; former husband, Marion Rose; sister, Alice (George) Bartz; and two brothers, Robert (Harriet) Nitardy and Otto Nitardy.
